All I can say is – wow.
Basically the Netherlands have a show, complete with swimsuit contest where people with disabilities (visible disabilities), women specifically compete in a beauty pageant.
It reads: “Ever whistled at a woman in a wheelchair? Checked out the boobs of a blind babe? If the answer’s ‘no’, this barrier-breaking show will put an end to that.”
Wow. And even more surprising…it’s been a smashing success and the rights
to remake Miss Ability have been “snapped up” (according to the article) in Britain, France, Germany and the US.
I don’t know whether to cheer or be horrified. I guess I’ll just have to wait until (or if) the show makes its way onto the screen here in the U.S.

*muttering* There must be a way to not have this be lime green.
That’s rather disturbing.
Rather than being a champion of beauty, I’m afraid it may be over-sensationalized when it comes to the US, ending up being something with a mocking tone.
But you never know. Depends on who actually does it.
