Audio File: Unleaded - Episode #24 (Dangers of Reading)
Welcome to Unleaded, fuel for writers. This is Meriah Crawford with your daily 60 seconds of writerly inspiration and perspiration.
People will tell you how important it is for writers to read, and it’s true. But it’s like all good things: best done in moderation. I have a whole bookcase full of books on writing, another filled with books for research, plus unending cases of classics, obscure gems, field guides, and other treasures.
I could easily spend the next couple decades reading, and never reach the end of even my own personal library. And while I’d probably enjoy that, and there would be value in it for me as a person and as a writer, the fact remains that the only thing that will get the writing done is actually sitting down and writing.
So, put that book down, log off the Internet, get out your pen or open up Word, and do it: write those words, one after another. Just imagine what you can create if you do.
